So, if you know Papa, you know that he is addicted to sweets. He can't say no, especially to red velvet cake and chocolate. So, this holiday, if you're looking for the perfect sweet treats, check out this local San Francisco shop.
I love the story of Hooker's sweet treats. The owner started back when the economy crashed in 2008. He was inspired by his mother and grandmother. Those are my two biggest inspirations as well, so I adore this company.
Plus, these caramels are addicting. When you order a supply for Christmas, buy yourself a package to snack on while you wrap presents.
As you know, I'm constantly fighting Papa's t-shirt and jeans style. So, I'm trying to convince him to wear more sweaters. This year, I'm digging the J.Crew sweaters. I love this particular style, the Wallace & Barnes Italian wool sweater. It's the details. I'm all about the little touches that make your clothes look different and stand out. I love the denim pocket and trim.
As you know, Papa and I just finished a cleanse, so we aren't ready to model our own sweaters. We'll leave that to the professionals from the J. Crew website! BUT, I will tell you, that these sweaters hide the Dad Bod, if you happen to need that.
It's time for the holiday season. I can't believe some of the stores already have Christmas and Hanukkah decorations out before we've even had some turkey and dressing.
That means - holiday parties. Well, if you are getting ready for a big holiday party, wedding or a fancy night out. Here's a great tip for the guy in your life. You can rent them a tux or trendy suit from Black Tux. Kelly and I just tried this for a friend's wedding. It was fantastic. We were both a bit skeptical at first, but it was the easiest thing we've ever done. AND, the tuxes fit like a glove. They'll even put together an entire look for you. It's a no brainer. If it doesn't fit, they even credit you some coin if you take it to a local tailor. They've definitely got it figured out.
Give them a try and have your guy dressed to impress this holiday season.
Parker's Papa is a big fan of polos. But, I couldn't have him taking Parker to play dates and music classes in the same ol' tattered polo (with the curled up collars). You know the one. So, I found him the Psycho Bunny polos. They are awesome. These polos have a little humor to them. They are updated, stylish and have a little bit of an edge. They are also all about the quality, which means, they will wear and wash well. I like how Psycho Bunny takes this classic item and gives it a twist for the modern dad. They also have some fun t-shirts and polos for boys too. So, you can coordinate dad and son.
We like to pick ours up at the NordstromAnniversary Sale. Or, you can check them out on their website.
The week of September 27th - October 3rd isBanned Books Week. This is the national book community's annual celebration of the freedom to read. It's a time to support books that have a good message, but may be challenged and censored. This year, And Tango Makes Three is one of the books that is being featured (that is often challenged/banned). It is also one of the most frequently banned books. The book is based on the true story of Roy and Silo, two male chinstrap penguins in New York's Central Park Zoo. Together, they "adopt" their baby penguin. It is also one of our favorite books to read to Parker. Families come in all shapes and sizes. Our job as dads is to help Parker know that he is loved. That's it. Nothing more. This book helps us tell him that story.
Support your favorite library and buy a copy of And Tango Makes Three. Or, just celebrate the freedom to read and read your favorite book this week! Thanks Gretchen Grey-Hatton for making this dad aware of Banned Books Week.
If you read Papa's blog #2, you remember his zipper-gate scandal. Thank goodness I bought him a supply of MeUndies. I found them after listening to a Dan Savage podcast. I love them! They are super comfortable, soft, and have fun prints (for men and women).
When I received my first order, they made a mistake with my order. I called to let them know, and they were amazing. Great service! Incredible brand and marketing! Awesome story!
Tips: You can get 20% off your first order using the promo code "Savage". Also check out “the Wall” and “Photshoot” pages on their website for some eye candy! You are welcome.
PS. You will get a free hat, which is ideal for irritating your partner. I wear it to dinner all of the time to annoy Papa. It works.
Harry's is a must have for Papa's Day (or any good celebration). Razors are constantly changing, plus who can keep up with how many blades work best? This product line is stylish and will make you feel like you just stepped out of an old fashioned barber shop (at least that's what Papa says).
Tips: You can sign up for a monthly service plan, or just try them once to see if you like it. They also have free shipping on all orders over $10. If you live in NYC, you can visit them in person.
Again, I love a socially conscious company. Harry's employees volunteer 1% of their time to help others, while the company donates 1% of their sales. You can check it out here.
